Felicia Getz scored the first two goals of the game and Alvernia University (9-7, 2-2) defeated Hood College (1-15, 0-4) by a 6-0 final Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth field hockey action at Alvernia.
Getz scored the first goal of the game in the fourth minute and added a goal--assisted by
Madison Potthoff--early in the second quarter. Regan Dowey scored a goal assisted by
Victoria Strasser later in the second quarter and Alvernia had a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Potthoff scored on a corner play assisted by
Kaitlyn Keller in the third quarter and Strasser scored a pair of goals in the fourth.
Hood managed just one shot in the third quarter that was not on goal.Â
Emma Beamesderfer played the full 60 minutes for Alvernia and earned the shutout.
Alvernia continues the season at Arcadia on Wednesday. The Wolves are tied with Arcadia and Widener for third place in the conference with three games to go. The top four teams make the postseason.
