Golden Wolves Down Mustangs, 2-1

Owings Mill, Md. (Oct. 26, 2019) - After falling behind 1-0, Alvernia University (10-8, 3-3) scored two unanswered goals to take a 2-1 win over Stevenson University (6-12, 2-4) on Saturday evening in MAC Commonwealth action at Stevenson.

The Mustangs opened the scoring in the ninth minute of action when Emma Adams got a shot past Emma Beamesderfer inside the left post.

The Golden Wolves tied it up at 1-1 two minutes later when Madison Potthoff found Morgan Mondschein after a penalty corner.

25 minutes later Makenzie Smeigh broke the 1-1 tie with a goal in her second straight game.

The Mustangs did not get another shot on goal the rest of the way.

With the win, Alvernia moves into a tie for third with Arcadia and Widener with two games to go. As it stands, Arcadia holds the tiebreaker over Alvernia with the win over the Golden Wolves
earlier this week. Alvernia and Widener will face off at Widener on Wednesday.
