Reading, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2019) - Lycoming College (10-6, 4-2) scored in the 85th minute to take a 2-1 win over Alvernia University (3-12-3, 2-3-1) on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer action at Alvernia.
Lycoming got on the board first with a goal from Kellen Krebs in the 32nd minute. Krebs sent in a header that hit the crossbar and shot straight down and into goal.Â
With three second remaining in the first half, Alvernia tied it up at 1-1 with a goal from
Damien Jennings.
Ethan LaVerdure sent a ball in from the top that
Trent Rider sent in towards the right post, where Jennings headed it into net.
The Warriors had an opportunity late in the 60th minute to break the 1-1 tie when they were granted a penalty kick, but
Ben Solsky came up with a huge save for the Golden Wolves to keep it at 1-1.
24 minutes later, the Warriors were able to break the 1-1 tie when Kalu Ume sent a long shot in across the field that bent into the upper right corner of the goal to put Lycoming up 2-1.
The Golden Wolves got two shots off in the final minutes of regulation, but were unable to convert.
With the loss, Alvernia stays in sixth place in MAC Commonwealth standings. They are currently on the outside looking in at the five team playoff with two games left in the regular season.
The Golden Wolves look to gain three points on Wednesday when they head to WIdener University.
