Wyomissing, Pa. (Nov. 15, 2019) - Chatham University (2-1-1) scored three goals in the third period to take a 5-3 win over Alvernia University (1-2-1) on Friday night in Women's Ice Hockey action at The Body Zone.
Alvernia lit the lamp 11 minutes into action when
Olivia Gilida scored on a power play goal to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0.
The Cougars tied it up seven minutes later on a goal from Rylee Schumacher. Chatham then took a 2-1 lead eight minutes into the second period on a goal from Sydney Collins.
The Golden Wolves tied it up at 2-2 on a power play goal scored by
Abby Radcliffe.
The Cougars broke the 2-2 just under seven minutes into the third period, and took the lead just two minutes later on a goal from Holly Ackerman.
The Golden Wolves got back within one on a goal from
Abby Radcliffe in the 12th minute of the third period.
Alvernia pulled goalie
Julia Beaven with about 90 second remaining in the game, but the Cougars quickly took advantage of the empty net and went back up by two goals, 5-3.
Lauren Cyzmek would get a shot off in the final minute for Alvernia, but the look went wide as Chatham took the 5-3 win.
Radcliffe led Alvernia's offensive efforts with two goals.
Abby Reisinger finished with two assists.
Beaven finished with 34 saves.
Alvernia has a quick turnaround and will host Lebanon Valley College tomorrow at 2:00 PM at The Body Zone.
