Reading, Pa. (Nov. 26, 2019) - Alvernia University (3-2) had three players surpass 20 points in a 97-68 win over Penn State-Berks (0-6) Tuesday evening in non-conference men's basketball action at Berks.
Sophomore
Justin Thomas scored 24 points and added five rebounds.Â
Malik Green and
Darnell Ransom scored 22 points each.
Alvernia's lead hit double digits for the first time with 4:31 left in the first half when Thomas hit a 3 to give the Golden Wolves a 39-27 lead, and the Wolves were up 47-31 at the break after a Green layup on their last possession.
Alvernia scored four of its first five buckets in the second half in the paint and pushed the lead to 23 points, 57-34, on a layup from
Mickeel Allen.
The lead hit its largest at 32 points following a Green free throw midway through the second half, and the Wolves cruised to victory.
Alvernia is off for the Thanksgiving break and returns to action Sunday afternoon when it hosts Immaculata.
