Reading, Pa. (Dec. 6, 2019) - Neumann University (6-3) scored a goal in the first and two more in the second on its way to a 5-2 win over Alvernia University (2-6) Friday evening in game two of the Keystone Holiday Classic hosted by Alvernia at The BodyZone.
The win advances Neumann into Saturday's Championship game where it will face Lebanon Valley College, a 2-0 winner over King's College in game one Friday.
Olivia Gilida scored the first goal in the third period for Alvernia to close the gap to 3-1 with just over 10 minutes to play. Gilida threw a wrister from the point on the power play that found the corner of the netting just inside the right post. She was assisted by
Amber Steinhilpert and
Abby Radcliffe on the goal.
Neumann answered with a pair of goals over the next seven minutes to push ahead, 5-1, and Steinhilpert made it a two-point night with a goal in the final two minutes of play.Â
Mackenzie Jackson put the puck on net and Steinhilpert collected the rebound and lifted over the Neumann goalie.
Julia Beaven made 40 saves in net for the Wolves.
Alvernia returns to the ice Saturday to face King's College at 1:00.
