Reading, Pa. (Feb. 6, 2019) - Arcadia University () went on a 10-0 run to open the game and never looked back in a 60-43 over Alvernia University () on Wednesday night at Alvernia University's Jack McCloskey Court.
The Knights came out firing, scoring the opening ten points of the game before
Jannelle Robinson got Alvernia on the board with a layup with 7:17 left in the first quarter.
The Golden Wolves got within five, 15-10, on a layup from
Maya Cooper with 2:01 left in the first quarter, but the Knights took a seven point lead into the second quarter.
Alvernia again got back within five, 25-20, with 5:11 left in the second quarter on a
Torie Zerbe layup.
The Golden Wolves were held scoreless the remainder of the second quarter and the Knights took a 33-20 lead.
Alvernia's scoreless drought continued for the first three and a half minutes of the second half as the Knights extended their lead to 16.
Torie Zerbe ended Alvernia's scoreless drought with a layup with 6:38 left in the third, but Arcadia went on a 13-6 run to close out the third quarter and take a
49-28 lead into the final ten minutes.
The fourth quarter was Alvernia's highest scoring quarter, with the Golden Wolves scoring 15 points in the final ten minutes, but Arcadia's lead would be too much
to overcome as the Knights took the 60-43 win.
Cooper led Alvernia's scoring efforts with 12 points and four steals.
Amber Orban finished with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Taylor Dunn led Arcadia with 19 points.
Alvernia has the weekend by and will return to the court on Tuesday for its home finale against Albright.
