Ritchie And Abernethy Lead Record-Breaking Win Over Medaille

Ritchie Breaks Own Single Game Assist Record

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 11, 2019) - Senior Andrew Ritchie broke the single game assist record and classmate Jarret Abernethy matched him with 15 points to lead Alvernia University (3-2) to a 28-3 win over Medaille College (0-4) Monday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

Ritchie finished the game with six goals and nine assists breaking his own record of eight assists set last year vs. La Roche.  Abernethy tallied eight goals and seven assists in the game.

The Golden Wolves broke the team record for goals in a game surpassing last season's 27-3 win over La Roche.

Ritchie set up Abernethy for the first goal of the game 15 seconds after the opening faceoff, and the Wolves held a 6-0 lead after the first quarter.  Abernethy had four of the first six goals and Ritchie had three helpers through the first 15 minutes.

Five different players scored in the second quarter with Sam St. Croix scoring the final two goals before the half to that had Alvernia leading 16-0 at the break.

Alvernia added 10 more tallies in the third quarter and Medaille scored three of the five goals in the fourth.

Jacob O'Donnell made 12 saves in net for Alvernia.  St. Croix finished with five goals and an assist, and Zach Bowman added four goals.  Tim Bailey was 17-for-21 on faceoffs.

Alvernia is back in action next Sunday when it hosts Susquehanna University.
