Susquehanna Jumps Out Early In 20-10 Win At Alvernia

St. Croix Tallies Four For Alvernia

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2019) - Susquehanna University (4-5) scored scored seven goals in the first quarter on its way to a 20-10 win over Alvernia University (3-3) Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The River Hawks scored the first 11 goals of the game then after an exchange of goals midway through the second half Alvernia scored three goals in the final 36 seconds of the half to hit the halftime break down 13-5.

Thomas Fitzgerald scored an unassisted goal with 36 seconds left, then Sam St. Croix scored a crazy goal with his back to the net just outside the crease with 13 seconds left, and after two quick turnovers off the ensuing faceoff, Andrew Ritchie picked up a loose ball in the offensive end and buried a shot just before the horn.

Susquehanna won the third quarter, 5-2, and Alvernia took the fourth, 3-2.

St. Croix led the Golden Wolves with four goals.  Ritchie and Jarret Abernethy had two goals each. Jacob O'Donnell made 19 saves in net for Alvernia.

Alvernia continues the non-conference schedule with a rescheduled game against Wilkes at home on Wednesday.
