Misericordia Earns 3-0 Win Over Alvernia

McGinley Tallies Nine Kills

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 14, 2019) - Misericordia University (14-10, 4-3) earned a 3-0 win over Alvernia University (6-13, 2-5) Thursday evening in Middle Atlantic Conference men's volleyball action at Jack McCloskey Court.

The Cougars had a 24-20 lead in the opening set, but had to hold on for the 25-23 win.  After Alvernia opened up a 3-1 lead early in the second set, neither team served more than twice in a row, and Alvernia held a 23-21 lead late.  Misericordia tied the set at 24-all then Alvernia earned a point on a side out. The Cougars answered with a kill from Matt Lavin and ran off three straight points for a 27-25 win.

Misericordia was up four points midway through the third set and had a 23-15 lead late before closing out a 25-18 win.

Logan McGinley led Alvernia with nine kills, Victor de Avila had a team-high five blocks, and Jon Demeter finished with 14 digs.

Alvernia continues the season hosting a tri-match on Saturday.
