Clermont, Florida (March 3, 2019) - Alvernia University (3-1) swept its first day at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, earning a 6-5 win over Monmouth College (0-2) and a 19-6 win over Eastern University (0-2).

In Alvernia's morning game, the Golden Wolves trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third. JoAnnah Lim got Alvernia on the board with an RBI single down the left field line to score Analise Fouracre, who walked earlier in the inning.

Monmouth scored two more in the top sixth to make it 5-1.

The Golden Wolves made it 5-4 in their half of the sixth inning, with Sarah Bystrycki driving in a run with a single to center and Alyssa Acker driving in two with a single to center.

Trailing by one in the bottom of the seventh, Alvernia Hope Robinson and Sarah Reinert on first and second with no outs. Morgan Psiuk drove in Robinson and Reinert with a walkoff double to give Alvernia the 6-5 come from behind win.

Decker earned her second collegiate win after coming in to relieve Riley Shields in the top of the third. Decker struck out one and allowed just three hits in four innings.

Psiuk and Acker had two RBIs each for Alvernia, and Reinert and Lim had two hits.

The Golden Wolves led wire-to-wire in their second game of the day.

Alvernia scored six runs in the top of the first before the Eagles recorded their first out as Alvernia jumped out to the early 6-0 lead.

The Golden Wolves added four in the top of the second, including two runs off a two-run homer by Acker that went the distance over the left field fence.

The Eagles got four back in the bottom of the third, but Alvernia responded with a six run top of the fourth to take a 16-6 lead.

The Eagles scored two more in the bottom of the fourth, but Alvernia scored three in the top of the fifth to take the 19-6 win in five innings.

Shields went 4-4 with three RBIs and two doubles to lead Alvernia's offense. Lim, Acker, and Kerstin Koenig also finished with three RBIs. Psiuk's bat stayed hot with two doubles and an RBI.

Zoee Garis picked up her first win of the season, pitching 3.1 innings and striking out two. Nicole August came in for the final 1.2 innings and struck out the final to Eagles to end the game.

Alvernia continues at the Spring Games on Monday. The Golden Wolves will face Adrian College at 1:30 PM, and Wittenburg University at 3:45 PM.
