Ritchie, Abernethy Carry Alvernia Past LaRoche, 20-6

Pittsburgh, Pa. (Mar. 9, 2019) - Andrew Ritchie and Jarret Abernethy combined for 11 goals to lead Alvernia University (2-2) to a 20-6 win over LaRoche College (1-6) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at LaRoche.

Ritchie led the way with six goals for Alvernia and Abernethy added five.  Both players also finished with a game-high nine points.

The Golden Wolves scored 10 straight goals from the first into the second quarters to take a commanding 11-1 lead 8:22 before halftime.  Abernethy scored four of the goals on the run and Ritchie added two.

Alvernia held a 13-3 lead at halftime and led by eight or more the rest of the way.

Jacob O'Donnell made 10 saves to earn the win.

Alvernia returns home for a non-conference game Monday against Medaille.  The game will be the first Headstrong Fundraising game in NCAA Division III.
