Elizabethtown Wins Game Of Runs, 21-11

Taffo And Whitmoyer Score Three Each

Elizabethtown, Pa. (Mar. 9, 2019) - Elizabethtown College (1-4) won a game of runs 21-11 over Alvernia University (2-1) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Elizabethtown.

After the teams traded goals in the opening three minutes, the Blue Jays scored six straight for a 7-1 lead.  The hosts held a 10-4 lead before Alvernia got the last goal of the first half to hit the halftime break down 10-5.

The scored four of the first five goals in the second half to pull within two goals, 11-9, but Etown answered with seven straight for a 18-9 lead.

Alvernia got three goals each from Gianna Taffo and Erika Whitmoyer.  Samantha Rothman made eight saves in net for Alvernia. Lexi Sharp netted 10 goals for the Jays.

Alvernia continues a four-game stretch of road games to open the season at Moravian on Tuesday and is scheduled for a home opener on Thursday against Neumann.
