Judge Leads Alvernia To 15-10 Win Over Immaculata

Judge Finishes With Six Goals

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 1, 2019) - Alvernia University (3-7) jumped out to a 4-1 lead and held on for the 15-10 win over Immaculata University (3-6) on Monday evening in women's lacrosse non-conference action at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves got off to an early start with a goal from Madison Hengey less than a minute into the first half.

Alvernia made it 2-0 a minute later with Rachel Judge scoring her first goal of the evening.

Immaculata got one back with 24:06 left in the first half, but Alvernia extended its lead to 4-1 with goals from Brittany Defibaugh and Rachel Judge.

The Mighty Macs scored three goals in a two minute span to tie it up at 4-4 with 11:05 left in the half.

Alvernia then scored three of their own, including two from Defibaugh to extend its lead back to 7-4.

The Mighty Macs scored with 16 seconds left in the half to get within two at 7-5.

Immaculata opened the second half with two man-down goals to take the 8-7 lead, but Judge tied it back up at 8-8 with 26:48 remaining.

Both teams went scoreless for the next ten minutes, with the Mighty Macs breaking the scoring drought with 16:18 remaining to take the 0-8 lead.

Alvernia tied it up and retook the lead with goals from Judge and Erika Whitmoyer four minutes later.

The Mighty Macs tied it up one last time with 10:53 remaining, but Alvernia scored five unanswered to close out the 15-10 win.

Judge led Alvernia with six goals, and Taffo, Whitmoyer, and Defibaugh finished with three goals each.

Kathrine Giannaras played all 60 minutes in net, making 13 saves.

Alvernia returns to its MAC Commonwealth on Wednesday at Stevenson.
