Glenside, Pa. (Apr. 13, 2019) - Arcada University (20-8, 8-2) swept Alvernia University (21-12-1, 9-3) on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth softball action at Arcadia.

The Knights took game one 9-1 in six innings, and took game two 2-1.

In game one of the afternoon, the Knights got off to a fas start and posted two runs in the bottom of the first after going triple-single-triple to start off the inning.

Arcadia added two in the bottom of the third on a single and an error by Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves got one back in the top of the sixth after Morgan Psiuk doubled to lead off the inning and Sarah Bystrycki drove Psiuk in on a single in the next at bat.

The Knights would go on to put up five runs in their half of the sixth, including two runs on a single to right field to end the game at 9-1.

Riley Shields went five and two thirds for Alvernia in the circle, striking out five.

Shields led Alvernia's offense with a two-for-three performance at the plate.

Game two of the double header turned into a pitcher's duel, with Alvernia scoring it's only run of the game in the top of third as Psiuk drove in Analise Fouracre with a double up the middle.

The Knights tied it up at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot over the left center fence.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Knights got the lead off batter, Julia Gessner, on after she was hit by a pitch. The Knights pinch ran for Gessner with Brooke Ward. Ward stole second in the and advanced to third on a wild pitch in the next at bat. With runners on the corners, Bekah Good hit a ball off the butt of her bat on a check swing. Shields fielded the ball for Alvernia and first and made a bang-bang play at the plate on Ward, but Ward was ultimately called safe as the Knights walked off a 2-1 win.

Ally Decker went the distance for Alvernia, striking out two and allowing four hits in the loss.

Psiuk led Alvernia's offense with two hits and and RBI. Fouracre also finished game two with two hits.

With the two losses, Alvernia drops to 9-3 in MAC Commonwealth play. The Golden Wolves sit in second place behind Arcadia, who sits atop at 8-2.

The Golden Wolves will face Albright College at home on Tuesday at 3:00 PM.
