Alvernia Tops Lycoming, 8-1

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 13, 2019) - Alvernia University (12-4, 3-1) defeated Lycoming College (3-9, 0-3) by an 8-1 final Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's tennis action at Exeter Community Park.

The Golden Wolves can lock up a berth in the postseason with a win over Arcadia a week from Tuesday.

Alvernia opened the match with three convincing wins in doubles play with two 8-2 wins and an 8-1 win.

Lycoming was able to get on the board with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles and Alvernia cruised to victory with wins at each of the other five singles matches only losing five games in those five matches.

Alvernia was scheduled to face Albright College on Wednesday, but the Lions have canceled the remaining schedule due to a lack of available players.
