Big Second Quarter Carries Albright Past Alvernia, 21-9

Ritchie Scores Five To Lead Wolves

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 16, 2019) - Albright College (1-11, 1-5) used a huge second quarter on its way to a 21-9 win over Alvernia University (3-11, 0-6) Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Lions scored the first two goals of the game, but the Golden Wolves cut that gap in half when Andrew Ritchie ripped a shot from the angle past the Albright goalie.

The score remained 2-1 after the first 15 minutes, but Albright racked up 10 goals in the second on its way to a 12-4 halftime lead.  The Lions scored the first four goals of the second quarter, alternated with the Wolves for a pair each, then closed the quarter with five straight.

Albright took the third quarter 5-1 and both teams scored five goals each in the fourth.

Ritchie scored five goals on Senior Day as did classmate Jarret Abernethy.  Abernethy assisted on four of Ritchie's five goals.

Senior goalie Jacob O'Donnell made 19 saves for Alvernia.

The Wolves wrap up the season with a pair of conference road games at Lycoming on Wednesday then at Widener next Friday evening.
