Alvernia Rolls Past Elizabethtown, 13-4

Sides Ties Triples Record

Elizabethtown, Pa. (Apr. 24, 2019) - Alvernia University (23-12-2) tuned up for the final weekend of the regular season with a 13-4 win at Elizabethtown College (11-22) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action.

Nate Sides was 3-for-5 with five RBIs and became the fifth player in school history to hit two triples in a game, and the first since Brian Witkowski and Nole Saylor both did it in April of 2010.

Brian Kane allowed three runs on six hits with four strikeouts over seven innings and Christian Burrus allowed a run on two hits over the final two innings.

Matt Briner and Matt Kinahan also had 3-hit games for the Golden Wolves.

Alvernia scored a single run in the first, two in the second, and three in the third, and had a 6-2 lead until it erupted for five runs in the top of the seventh.

Alvernia opens the final 3-game series of the conference schedule at Arcadia on Friday, and hosts the Knights for the doubleheader on Saturday.

Both teams have already secured playoff berths for the MAC Commonwealth Championship which opens next Thursday at PEOPLESBank Park in York.
