Owings Mill, Md. (Apr. 27, 2019) - Alvernia University (14-4, 5-1) used depth in the singles matches for a come from behind 5-4 win over Stevenson University (8-6, 4-2) Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's tennis action at Stevenson.
In the battle for the home match in the semifinals of the MAC Commonwealth Championships which will begin on Wednesday, Alvernia was victorious and will host Stevenson.
Stevenson had an impressive start in Saturday's match winning all three doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead. Alvernia started the comeback with straight-set wins at No. 3, 4, and 6 singles. The Mustangs were able to get a win at No. 2 singles, but
Amanda Phillips won in three sets at No. 1 singles and
Cassandra Bean won the second and third sets at No. 5 singles to take the match.
The season continues with the semifinal match on Wednesday.
