Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2019) - Elizabethtown College (3-2-1) shutout Alvernia University (1-5-2) 3-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia. 

The game was the 8th annual Kicks for Cancer game, which is hosted every year when the Blue Jays and Golden Wolves meet.
This year, Alvernia FAR Polly Mathys was named the honorary captain of the game.

Eight minutes into the game, the Blue Jays got on the board when JD Haaf dribbled by Alvernia defenders and shot past the reach of Alvernia keeper Luca Grippi into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Six minutes later, Haaf scored in nearly the exact same manner, but this time he had help from Cameron Sheva, who assisted on the goal.

The Blue Jays added a third goal in the 70th minute when Liam Alese sent in a free kick to Sheva, who fired a shot into goal.

The Golden Wolves had just one less shot than the Blue Jays. Elizabethtown finished with 18 shots, and Alvernia finished with 17. Braden Kreider led Alvernia's offensive attempts with four shots, including three shots on goal. Ryan Kuster finished the night with five shots, including one on goal. 

Grippi spent 80 minutes in goal and made five saves. Ben Solsky made his collegiate debut for the final ten minutes, and made two saves.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Saturday when they host the University of Scranton at 2:00 PM.
