Winchester, Va. (Sept. 21, 2019) - Alvernia University (1-8, 0-2) had a tri-match against Virginia Wesleyan University (12-3, 3-0) and Shenandoah University ( 4-10, 0-3) where the Golden Wolves suffered two losses by the score of 3-0 and 3-2 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
Against Virginia Wesleyan
Olivia Frutiger lead the team with nine kills.
Paige Stern followed her teammate with seven kills of her own. Frutiger also finished the match with two aces.
Alexis Schwenk had 16 assists to help out the Golden Wolves. On the defensive side of the ball
Gabrielle DeLucca lead the team with 11 digs. Alvernia ultimately fell short against the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins by a score of 3-0.
Following their match against Virginia Wesleyan the Golden Wolves went on to play the Shenandoah University Hornets in their second match of the day. Against the Hornets
Olivia Frutiger lead the Wolves with 15 kills, one ace, and 14 digs.
Alexis Schwenk finished the match with 39 assists and one ace of her own. The Golden Wolves fought hard but fell short again against the Hornets by a score of 3-2.
The Golden Wolves resume action at home on Jack McCloskey court Tuesday October 1st at 7:00 pm against the Hood College Blazers.
