Reading, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2019) - Susquehanna University (2-6) scored a golden goal in the second minute of the second overtime to defeat Alvernia University (1-7-2) 1-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Alvernia.
In the 102nd minute of action the River Hawks Brian McKee sent in a perfect free kick from just inside the 20 yard line. Scott Misson jumped and was able to redirect the free kick with a header shot that sailed into the upper left corner of the goal and just beyond the reach of Alvernia keeper
Ben Solsky.
Alvernia finished the game with 11 shots, but only four shots on goal.
Solsky finished with seven saves over the 102 minutes, including three quick saves in the first overtime period that kept Alvernia in it and helped to force the second overtime.
Alvernia heads north this weekend for a road game at the University of Rochester at 1:00 PM on Saturday. The Golden Wolves return home on Wednesday for their final non-conference game of the year against Cabrini University. They then open their MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday, October 5th against Messiah College.
