Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2019) - King's College (4-4) scored a pair of goals in each half in a 4-3 win over Alvernia University (3-5) Wednesday evening in non-conference women's soccer action at King's.
The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead into halftime with goals in the third and 23rd minutes.
Grace Silva scored her first goal of the season eight minutes into the second half to cut the deficit in half, and starting in the 64th minute the teams combined for four goals in the next nine minutes. When the dust settled, the Monarchs still held to a 4-3 lead with 17 minutes left to play.
Lauren Gough scored the Golden Wolves' second goal of the game in the 70th minute and
Kyla Gibson scored the third three minutes later.
Alvernia had a pair of shots in the final five minutes of play, but both shots were off the mark.
Lily Sankey made three saves in net for Alvernia. Erica Blackburn stopped a pair for King's.
Alvernia returns home to host Cabrini College on Saturday.
