Grantham, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2019) - After leading 1-0 at the half, #13 Messiah College (4-4, 1-0) went on to score four unanswered goals en route to a 5-0 win over Alvernia University (5-5, 0-1) in the MAC Commonwealth opener at Messiah on Saturday.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a goal from Makayla Malcolm. 

Emma Beamesderfer made six saves in the first half to keep at 1-0 going into the break.

Messiah came out of the half firing; scoring two goals a 90 second span to jump out to a 3-0 lead. 

The Falcons added two more goals in the 46th and 53rd minute as they went on to take the 5-0 win.

Beamesderfer finished with nine saves, and Alvernia was held to no shots on goal.

\Alvernia returns home on Wednesday and will host King's College at 5:00 PM.
