Three-Goal Third Gives Post A 5-2 Win Over Alvernia

Radcliffe Scores Two For Golden Wolves, Beaven Stops Career-High

Shelton, Conn. (Jan. 10, 2020) - Post University (8-14, 1-11) scored a go-ahead goal five minutes into the third period and added two more in a 5-2 win over Alvernia University (3-9, 0-5) Friday afternoon in UCHC women's hockey action at Post.

Both teams scored on the power play in the first 11 minutes of the game and Alvernia freshman Abby Radcliffe scored her second of the game with less than a minute left before the first intermission to give Alvernia a 2-1 lead.

Post scored the only goal of the second period midway through and the game remained tied at 2-2 into the third period.  

Post racked up 11 shots in the early going in the third period before Jenna Abeyta scored assisted by Sadie Storm in the fifth sixth minute.  The hosts scored an insurance goal at 12:28 of the third and added an empty netter in the final 80 seconds.

Post finished with 52 shots in the game and Alvernia goalie Julia Beaven made a career-high 52 saves.  Radcliffe scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season.

The two teams return to the ice Saturday afternoon to wrap up the two-game weekend series.
