Wilkes, Pa. (Jan. 5, 2020) - Alvernia University (3-7, 1-2) picked up its first MAC win in program history on Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Wilkes University (1-8, 0-1) in Wilkes.
The Golden Wolves got on the board first when
Abby Radcliffe intercepted a Wilkes pass and took the puck down the ice on a breakaway, beating the goalie one-on-one with a goal into the right side of the net.
Wilkes tied it up about five minutes into the second period on a power-play goal by Shauna Tubbs.
Alvernia then retook the lead with two quick goals in the final five minutes of the second period.
Olivia Gilida scored the first of the two goals with a hard shot into net at 15:46 mark.
Abby Reisinger then scored a short-handed breakaway goal just about a minute later to put Alvernia up 3-1 with just over three minutes to play in the second period.
Gilida scored her second of the night on a power-play goal for the Golden Wolves 12 minutes into the third period to put Alvernia up 4-1.

Josh Brandwene. "I'm very proud of everyone's effort, attitude, and team-first mindset."
Gilida finished with two goals for the Golden Wolves, and
Alex Robertson finished with two assists.

Julia Beaven finished the night with 35 saves.
Alvernia faces a short turnaround, and will play SUNY Cortland at 7:00 PM Monday night at Cortland.
