Hershey, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2020) - Lebanon Valley College (5-15-1, 3-9-1, 5-2) used a three goal third period to seal a 7-2 win over Alvernia University (4-18, 0-14, 1-5) on Friday evening in Women's Ice Hockey action at Hersheypark Arena.
The Dutchmen opened the scoring with a goal from Lainey Tarasiewicz 4:30 into the game, and went up 2-0 six minutes later on a power play goal from Mychaela Pitta.
Just under two minutes into the second period, Lebanon Valley made it 3-0 with a goal from Olivia Cindrich.
Alvernia got on the board seven minutes later with a power play goal from
Olivia Gilida, assisted by
Abby Radcliffe and
Alex Robertson.
Gilida converted a second look on net just over two minutes later to cut Lebanon Valley's lead down to 3-2.
The Dutchmen answered 90 seconds later on a goal from Chloe Glass to go back up by two and kick off a series of four unanswered goals.
Lebanon Valley added three goals in the third period, including a short-handed goal from Rachel Havrylkoff with 34 seconds remaining in the game.
Julia Beaven and
Isabelle Hovel split time in net, with Beaven making 11 saves over 22 minutes, and Hovel making 15 saves over 38 minutes.
Gilida finished with two goals on the evening, and Radcliffe finished with two assists.
Abby Reisinger and
Alex Robertson each also finished with an assist.
Alvernia heads out to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham University on Saturday in its final road game of the inaugural season. Puck is set to drop at 12:40 PM.
