Reading, Pa. (Feb. 22, 2020) - Alvernia University (10-5) swept its home tri-match on Saturday with 3-0 wins over Eastern Mennonite University (3-4) and Lehman College (5-12).
The Golden Wolves got off to a fast start in their opening match against Eastern Mennonite. The Golden Wolves handled the Royals with a 25-11 win.
The Royals took advantage of Alvernia errors in the second set to take an early 5-4 lead, but Alvernia went on a 4-0 run that featured two
Logan McGinley service aces to go up 13-8.
A few points later, Alvernia's
Spencer Matthews served three straight aces to build Alvernia's lead up to 19-10. The Golden Wolves would go on to win set two 25-13 and would take set three 25-16.

McGinley finished match one with 24 attacks, 12 kills, and 11 digs.
Alvernia finished the tri-match off strong with three quick set wins over Lehman College.
The Golden Wolves took set one 25-5 and set two 25-10.
Alvernia then finished off Lehman with a 25-6 win.
Freshman
Caleb Whitehead finished match two with 21 attacks and 11 kills. Matthews finished with 10 kills on 14 attacks.
Mike Monczewski finished with 31 assists.
Alvernia opens its MAC schedule on Thursday at Misericordia.
