Glenside, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2020) - Alvernia University (10-10, 6-6) gave up an 11 point halftime lead and fell to Arcadia University (12-9, 7-5) 94-88 in double overtime on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth men's basketball action at Arcadia. 

The Golden Wolves led by as much as 15 points twice in the first half. Alvernia took a 15 point lead off of a Darnell Ransom 3-pointer with 11 minutes remaining, and went up by 15 again on a Keon Taylor free throw with two minutes remaining.

The Knights would score the final four points of the first half to cut Alvernia's lead to 11 points going into the break.

Arcadia then went on a 17-4 run in the opening six minutes of the second half to take the 40-38 lead. Arcadia's run was capped off by a Steve Pendleton 3-pointer with 13:28 remaining in the game.

Alvernia tied it up at 40-40 on a Taylor layup, but the Knights responded with another Pendleton 3-pointer to retake the lead, 43-30.

The Knights extended their lead to 12 points off of a Da'Kquan Davis 3-pointer with 7:19 remaining,

The Golden Wolves then went on a 18-7 run over the final three minutes that was capped off by a game-tying layup from Ransom with three seconds remaining to force overtime.

In the first overtime, Alvernia jumped out to a five point lead on a 3-pointer from Thomas and a layup by Malik Green.

The Knights got within two on back-to-back layups by Pendleton, and tied it up at 78-78 on a layup from Jacob Walsh,

Alvernia took the 80-78 lead on a Thomas jumper, but the Knights forced a second overtime on a Davis layup.

The Golden Wolves and Knights traded points in the opening three minutes of the second overtime, but the Knights took the lead permanently on a Davis jumper.

Arcadia's lead would become out of reach for Alvernia as the Knights converted free throws in the final 30 seconds.

Thomas led Alvernia with 28 points.

Davis led Arcadia with a career-high 44 points.

With the loss, Alvernia falls to sixth place in MAC Commonwealth standings.
