Glenside, Pa. (Feb. 5, 2020) - Arcadia University (10-11, 5-7) held Alvernia University (9-12, 3-9) to ten or less in three of the four quarters en route to a 69 - 38 win over the Golden Wolves on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action at Arcadia.

Torie Zerbe scored the first points of the night with a layup for the Golden Wolves just over a minute into play.

The Knights took the 3-2 lead following a foul shot and a layup and would hold the lead the rest of the way.

The Knights held Alvernia to seven points - from just two players - in the first quarter and would hold a 13-7 lead going into the second.

Arcadia again held Alvernia to single digits, this time nine points, in the second quarter while scoring 15 of their own to take a 28-16 lead going into the break.

The Knights went on a 7-0 run to open the third quarter before Torie Zerbe put in a layup to put an end to Alvernia's three minute scoreless streak. 

Julia Ewen got Alvernia within 15 following a layup with 6:34 remaining in the third, but the Knights didn't let off the gas and expended their lead to 48-28 after three.

The Knights would add 21 more in the fourth quarter to Alvernia's ten to take the 69-38 win.

Torie Zerbe led Alvernia with ten points, and Ewen added eight rebounds.

Alvernia continues its MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday at Hood.
