Stevenson Sweeps Alvernia, 3-0

Stewart Leads Alvernia With 10 Kills, Eight Digs

Owings Mill, Md. (Mar. 4, 2020) - Stevenson University (10-5, 2-1) swept Alvernia University (10-6, 1-1) in MAC men's volleyball action Wednesday evening at Stevenson.

The Mustangs took the match by set scores of 25-21, 25-16, and 25-18.

The first set was tight throughout with Stevenson getting back-to-back points to break a 19-19 tie.  The Mustangs doubled up again to earn set point at 24-21 and following an Alvernia timeout, Logan Smiley ended the first with an ace.

Stevenson put together a run to go up 14-7 in the second set.  Alvernia kept pace the rest of the set, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.  An early run in the third helped Stevenson to the 25-18 win.

Josh Stewart led Alvernia with 10 kills and eight digs.  Mike Monczewski had 18 assists.

Alvernia continues the MAC schedule at the Messiah tri-match this Saturday.
