Alvernia Splits Tri-Match At Messiah

Grantham, Pa. (Mar. 7, 2020) - Alvernia University (11-7, 2-2) split a tri-match at Messiah College Saturday afternoon losing 3-2 to the host Falcons () before taking a 3-0 win over King's College (15-5, 0-3).

Alvernia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening match against Messiah with wins of 25-18 and 28-26.  Messiah battled back with a 26-24 and 25-23 to force the fifth and deciding set, which the Falcons took 16-14.

Logan McGinley and Josh Stewart had a team-best 15 kills each.  Mike Monczewski had 45 assists.

Alvernia hit .440 in each of the first two sets against King's and took a 2-0 lead with wins of 25-14 and 25-12.  The Wolves closed out the match with a 25-19 win in set three. Stewart led the way with 13 kills and Monczewski had 41 assists and three aces.
