Second Half Goal Lifts Lebanon Valley Over Alvernia, 1-0

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2021) - Lebanon Valley College (7-6-1, 5-1) scored in the 76th minute to seal a 1-0 win over Alvernia University (3-12, 0-5) on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth Women's Soccer action at Alvernia. 

Alvernia held off a first half that saw Lebanon Valley fire off 14 shots, but the Golden Wolves kept the ball out of the net and keep the game tied up at 0-0.

The Dutchmen came out of the half firing, with a shot going off the right post just 90 seconds into the second half. The continued the offensive push with six total shots in the first nine minutes of the half, but Alvernia was able to keep Lebanon Valley off the board.

Alvernia's Kyla Gibson had a great look on net in the 64th minute, but Lebanon Valley's Jocelyn Umana made a fantastic save to keep it locked at 0-0.

After continuing to pile on the shots, Lebanon Valley finally broke through in the 76th minute. Lebanon Valley's Reagan McCarty sent in a beautiful cross from the right side of the field to Tylee Stauffer positioned off the left post. Stauffer crashed the net and connected on the cross to get the ball past Alvernia's Brynn Bock and put Lebanon Valley up 1-0.

Alvernia got off one in the final 14 minutes, but was unable to convert as Lebanon Valley came away with the 1-0 win.

Bock and Lily Sankey split time in net for Alvernia. Bock made four saves in the second half after taking over for Sankey who made nine saves in the first half.

The Golden Wolves return to action on Saturday at Stevenson.
