Owings Mills, Md. (Oct. 23, 2021)- Two first half goals lifted Stevenson University (5-6-5, 3-2-1) over Alvernia University (3-13, 0-6) in a 3-0 decision on Saturday night in a MAC Commonwealth women's soccer matchup at Stevenson.

Alvernia had the first look on net, as
Kyla Gibson fired off a shot to the bottom left of the goal that was saved by the Stevenson keeper in the fifth minute. Stevenson responded with two corner kicks that were stamped out by the Golden Wolves' defense.

The Mustangs continued to apply pressure, tallying three more corner kicks in the next 14 minutes. Stevenson broke through n the 25
th minute with a goal Allison Arters, assisted by Ericka Kitzinger.

The Mustangs recorded three more shots in the next 16 minutes, with
Lily Sankey saving two of the three. Stevenson was able to extend its lead late in the first half as Kitzinger found the back of the net 42
nd minute.

The Golden Wolves' offense pushed the Mustang defense, as they recorded a corner kick in the 46
th minute.
Liz Jones fired a shot that sailed just high of the net in the 48
th minute. Despite these two scoring opportunities, the Mustang's defense held firm.

Alvernia had another scoring opportunity later in the half with,
Shaina Mazzocca firing a shot to the bottom right of the net, which was saved by Keegan Caffrey.

The Mustangs quickly responded as they extended their lead off a goal in the 72
nd minute by Jessica Kern.

 The Golden Wolves would eventually fall to Stevenson, 3-0.

Brynn Bock and Sankey faced a total of 11 shots, recording five saves.

The Golden Wolves continue their season Tuesday night at Albright.
