Reading, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2021) - Alvernia University (13-4, 5-2) netted three second half goals to take a 3-0 win over Albright College (3-13-1, 0-7) on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer action at Albright. 

With the win, Alvernia moves into t-2nd in MAC Commonwealth standings. The Golden Wolves are tied at 5-2 with Lebanon Valley, though the Dutchmen would have the head-to-head tie-breaker against Alvernia. Lebanon Valley still needs to play Stevenson on Saturday, while the Golden Wolves will take on Hood.

Alvernia got off its first shot of the net, a grounder to the right corner by Ryan Kuster, in the 7th minute. Alvernia went on to fire off nine more shots in the first half, but were unable to convert. 

In the 55th minute, Alvernia broke through when Trent Rider received a corner from Nick Denlinger. Rider headed the corner into net to put Alvernia on the board, 1-0.

The Golden Wolves doubled up on their lead early in the 66th minute when Braden Kreider sent one in from 30 yards out and buried it in the upper right corner to make it 2-0 in favor of Alvernia.

Alvernia added an insurance goal in the 80th minute with Evan Bauer sending one in from nearly just as deep as Kreider and placing it just inside the right post.

The Golden Wolves did not allow a shot on net against Nate Nimo, who was making his first start in net for Alvernia this season.

Alvernia will close out its regular season on Saturday with Hood. A win over Hood and a loss for Lebanon Valley against Stevenson will make Alvernia the #2 seed in the 2021 MAC Commonwealth Championship.
