St. David's, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2021) - Alvernia Men's Soccer (8-2-0, 2-0) scored two goals in the second half to pick up its third straight shutout win with a 2-0 victory over Eastern University (7-2-2, 1-1-0) on Tuesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Men's Soccer action at Eastern. 

The Golden Wolves got a look in the opening seconds of the game as Gabe Wunderlich fired off a shot just 20 seconds into the action. Eastern was able to make the save to keep the Golden Wolves from taking an early lead. 

In the final minutes of the first half Alvernia was able to get off two more shots on net, but the Eagles again made the saves to keep it locked at 0-0 going into the half.

Alvernia was finally able to break through in the 67th minute when Ryan Cogill picked up the rebound of a shot by Braden Kreider and fired it into net to put Alvernia on the board, 1-0.

Eastern tried to equalize it two minutes later, but Alvernia's Ben Solsky made the save to keep Alvernia up 1-0. 

The Golden Wolves added an insurance goal off a Ryan Kuster penalty kick in the 89th minute to mark Kuster's third successful PK in as many games and give Alvernia the 2-0 advantage. 

Eastern did not get a shot off in the final minute as Alvernia came away with 2-0 win. 

Solsky finished the night with three saves.

The Golden Wolves continue with their MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday. Alvernia will host York College as part of Alumni and Family Weekend.
