Selinsgrove, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2021) - Alvernia University (6-5) was held shotless as #20 Susquehanna University (9-2) defeated the Golden Wolves 1-0 on Wednesday night in non-conference field hockey action at Susquehanna.

Susquehanna came out firing, getting a shot off in the opening seconds of the game. The shot went wide, but it set the tone for the rest of regulation.

The River Hawks got off six shots in the opening 15 minutes, and added another three before breaking through.

Late in the 21st minute, Susquehanna fired a shot off of Alvernia keeper Hannah Wolfe. Susquehanna's Sam Banks picked up the rebound off of Wolfe and fired it past her to put Susquehanna on the board.

Wolfe and Alvernia's defense kept Alvernia in the game, holding off second half attempts by the River Hawks to add to their lead. But, Susquehanna's defense held strong, not allowing a shot by Alvernia the entirety of the game.

Wolfe made a total of 10 saves in net for Alvernia, but Susquehanna came away with the 1-0 win.

Alvernia returns to action on Saturday night, hosting #7 Messiah University as part of Alvernia's Homecoming and Family Weekend.
