Annville, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2021) - #2 Lebanon Valley College (14-4) held off a second half push by #3 Alvernia University (14-5) to defeat the Golden Wolves 2-1 in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Men's Soccer semifinal game on Wednesday afternoon at Lebanon Valley.

Both Lebanon Valley goals came in the first half, while Alvernia netted one early in the second half and nearly converted several other opportunities. But, Lebanon Valley was able to hold off Alvernia to advance to the championship game and eliminate Alvernia from the MAC Commonwealth tournament.

Alvernia applied pressure early, with Ryan Kuster and Ryan Cogill combining for three shots on net in the first 11 minutes. A shot by Kuster early on hung on the goal line for a few seconds before being cleared by a Dutchmen defender in what was Alvernia's closest attempt of the opening minutes. 

Lebanon Valley made adjustments and took over momentum, with the Dutchmen scoring in the 25th minute on a goal on a shot to the lower left corner by Aaron Weitzel.  

Just eight minutes later, Lebanon Valley's Zach Snider was able to force a ball into net amongst a crowded box of Alvernia defenders to extend Lebanon Valley's lead to 2-0. 

Alvernia would come out of the second half firing with Ryan Cogill sending in a ball off the right wing to Ryan Kuster in the center of the box. Kuster fired the ball in to put Alvernia on the board.

The Golden Wolves had several chances to even it up in the second half, but they could not get the ball as Lebanon Valley came away with the 2-1 win.

Ben Solsky played all 90 minutes in net for Alvernia, making seven saves.

Lebanon Valley advances to the MAC Commonwealth Championship against #1 Messiah, while Alvernia awaits a possible ECAC bid.
