Danbury, Conn. (Nov. 8, 2021) - Alvernia University Men's Soccer was selected to the 2021 DIII Men's Soccer Championship, as announced by the Eastern College Athletic Conference on Monday evening.
Alvernia was selected as the top seed of Pod 2, and will travel to Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Alvernia will face #4 Muhlenberg College in an 11 AM matchup.Â
Also competing in Pod 2 is the host #2 Springfield College who will take on #3 Rutgers Camden.
The winners of both Pod 2 games will face each other in the Pod 2 Final on Sunday at noon, with that winner set to face the Pod 1 winner at the higher remaining seed the following weekend.
Pod 1 consists of top overall seed Rutgers Newark, who is hosting Pod 1 games, #2 PSU Behrend, #3 Misericordia, and #4 Westminster.Â
The Golden Wolves finished the regular season 14-4. They were the #3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship, but Alvernia was eliminated by #2 Lebanon Valley in the semifinal game, 2-1.
