Glenside, Pa. (March 10, 2021) - Alvernia University (3-2, 3-2) fell to Arcadia University (5-2, 5-2) in straight sets on Wednesday night in MAC Men's Volleyball action at Arcadia.

In set one of the night, Arcadia jumped out to a 3-0 lead early, but Alvernia scored the next two points on kills from Logan McGinley and Josh Stewart to bring it back to 3-2. The Knights responded and built their lead to as much as nine points at 19-10. Arcadia then closed out the set 25-20 on an attack error by the Golden Wolves.

In set two, Alvernia trailed Arcadia by just four points, 12-8, before the Knights went on a 7-1 run to go up by ten, 19-9. The Golden Wolves got within seven 22-15 on a kill by McGinley, but the Knights were able to close the set out on a kill by Owen Heft followed by a service error by Alvernia to take the second set 26-15.

The Knights and Golden Wolves played set three close. Alvernia led early, 4-1, on a kill by Tyler Anderson. The Knights tied the set up at 8-8 on a kill by Heft, and took the lead on a kill by Ryan Miller on the following point. The two teams would trade the lead twice before Arcadia took it for good on an attack error by Alvernia to go up 12-11. Alvernia wouldn't be able to catch Arcadia again as the Knights took set three 25-19 and the match 3-0.

McGinley led Alvernia with nine kills on 20 attacks. Jonny Ortega finished with 10 digs and Ethyn Burczyk finished with 20 assists.

Alvernia returns to the court on Saturday with a doubleheader against Eastern before hosting Arcadia again on Wednesday, March 17th to close out the series with the Knights.
