Reading, Pa. (March 19, 2021) - Alvernia University (2-3-0, 2-3-0) fell to Chatham University (6-3-0, 6-3-0) 5-2 on Friday evening in UCHC Women's Ice Hockey action at Body Zone.

The Cougars struck first, going up 1-0 on a goal by Lauren Comedy with just over five minutes remaining in the first period. 

Chatham added to its lead five minutes into the second period to go up 2-0 on the Golden Wolves.

Alvernia's Ioanna Christou brought the Golden Wolves back within one, 2-1, on an unassisted goal with six minutes left in the second.

Allison Corser-James put Chatham back up by two four minutes into the third, and the Cougars added an insurance goal on a hard hit shot by Kaylynn Savory into the upper right corner of the net. 

Alvernia got back within two on a goal from Amber Steinhilpert with seven minutes to play, but the Cougars responded to go back up by three, 5-2, just under a minute later.

The score would remain 5-2 for the remainder of the game as Chatham came away with their third straight win.

Alvernia's Julia Beaven finished the game with 45 saves in net.

The Golden Wolves look to bounce back on Saturday when they head to Chatham to close out the series.
