Reading, Pa. (March 26, 2021) - Two early first period goals would prove to be enough as Alvernia University (3-3-0, 3-3-0) took a 2-0 win over Wilkes University (0-9-0, 0-9-0) in UCHC Women's Ice Hockey action on Friday at Body Zone.

Alvernia's Lexi Hooper was responsible for both goals in the Golden Wolves win.

Hooper connected with Morgan Moore at 2:52 in the first period to put Alvernia up 1-0.

Hooper then connected with Amber Steinhilpert and Ionna Christou four minutes later to put Alvernia up 2-0.

Neither team would find the back of the net for the remainder of the game.

Alvernia's defense held strong behind goalie Julia Beaven, recording their second shutout of the season. Beaven finished the night with 27 saves in the shutout win.

Alvernia closes out its regular season on Sunday at Manhattanville. Alvernia will then await it's seeding in the eight team UCHC postseason.
