Elmsford, NY (March 28, 2021) - Alvernia University (3-4, 3-4) fell to Manhattanville College (3-4, 3-4) 3-2 on Sunday night in the regular season finale of UCHC Women's Ice Hockey at Manhattanville.

The Valiants struck first with a power play goal just over two minutes into the game.

Alvernia responded four minutes later with Olivia Gilida scoring a power play goal of her own to tie the game up at 1-1.

Eight minutes into the second period, the Valiants retook the lead on a shorthanded goal to go up 2-1.

The Golden Wolves scored an equalizer on a power play goal from Amber Steinhilpert with three minutes left in the second period.

Manhattanville then took a 3-2 lead on what would be the game winning goal with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

Alvernia had a 6-4 power play opportunity after pulling Isabelle Hovel out of goal, and were able to get several shots on net. But, Manhattanville held and came away with the 3-2 win.

Steinhilpert and Gilida finished with a goal each, and Ioanna Christou finished with an assist. Isabelle Hovel finished the night with 34 saves in net.

Alvernia will take the ice for the first time in postseason play on Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the UCHC playoff. Official seedings and tournament schedule will be released by the United Collegiate Hockey Conference office on Monday, March 29.
