Reading, Pa. (March 27, 2021) - Lebanon Valley College (4-2, 2-1) used a 13 goal first half to jump out to a 13-2 halftime lead en route to a 19-7 win over Alvernia University (2-3, 1-3) in MAC Commonwealth Women's Lacrosse action on Saturday morning at Alvernia.

The Dutchmen struck first, scoring the opening goal of the game, but Alvernia evened it up at 1-1 on a goal by Gianna Taffo just a few minutes later.

The Dutchmen then went on a 10-0 run over the next 15 minutes to jump out to a 11-1 lead.

Alvernia ended its scoreless drought with a free position goal from Haleigh Lackner with eight minutes remaining in the half.

The Dutchmen scored the final two of the half to take a 13-2 lead into the break.

Alvernia came out of the half scoring the first three goals, including two from Erika Whitmoyer, to cut the deficit to 13-5.

Lebanon Valley responded with a 4-0 run to extend its lead back to 17-5 with just over 20 minutes remaining.


Both teams would score twice more in the final 16 minutes of the half as Lebanon Valley took the 19-7 win.

Whitmoyer led Alvernia with two goals and two assists, and Lackner finished with three goals. Taffo and Chadwick each finished with one.

Kasey Fox and Kirsten Lake split time in net, with Lake picking up seven saves in the second half.

Alvernia returns to action on Wednesday with a non-conference game at FDU-Florham on Wednesday.
