Reading, Pa. (April 19, 2021) - Hood College (2-7, 2-4) scored the final five goals of the game to take a 14-10 win over Alvernia University (3-8, 1-6) on Monday night at Alvernia.

The Blazers struck first with a goal less than a minute into the action, but Alvernia tied it up at 1-1 three minutes later with a free position goal by Natalie Frantz. 

The Blazers responded two minutes later with a goal, but Frantz tied it up at 2-2 with her second of the night.

Alvernia would take a 3-2 lead with just under 18 minutes to go in the half with a successful free position goal from Hannah Chadwick. But, the Blazers would go on 4-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 6-3 lead.

The Golden Wolves brought it back within two, 6-4, on a goal by Olivia McCambley with 7:57 left in the half.

The Blazers would score more to push their lead to 8-4. Erika Whitmoyer would score a man-up goal for Alvernia with 2:10 left in the half to make it 8-5 going into the break.

Alvernia would come out of the half firing, going on a 5-1 run over 13 minutes to take a 10-9 lead. Taffo scored twice during the run, and Alexis Iswalt, Haleigh Lackner, and Mackenzie McKinney each added a goal.

Despite Alvernia's nice start to the second half, Hood's defense would lock down and its offense would score the final five goals of the game for the 14-10 win.

Whitmoyer finished with a goal and three assists, Taffo finished with two goals and an assist, and Frantz finished with two goals.

Kasey Fox finished with five sets in net.

Alvernia returns to action on Wednesday at Widener.
