Chester, Pa. (April 21, 2021) - Alvernia University (3-9, 1-7) fell to Widener University (6-5, 5-3) 17-3 on Wednesday night in Alvernia's MAC Commonwealth regular season finale at Widener.

The Pride scored the opening goal of the game just under two minutes in, and the Pride extended it to 2-0 two minutes later.

A successful free position goal by Natalie Frantz put Alvernia within one, 2-1, five minutes into the game. Alvernia then tied it up at 2-2 with a goal from Haleigh Lackner with just under 23 minutes left in the first half.

But, the Pride would then go off and score nine straight goals to close out the half with an 11-2 lead.

Widener would extend it to 12-2 after scoring the opening goal of the half.

Gianna Taffo would score a man-up for Alvernia with just under 25 minutes to play to make it 12-3, but that would end up being Alvernia's final goal of the game as Widener scored the last five goals for a 17-3 win.

Alvernia returns to action on Friday hosting DeSales University in the regular season finale. The Golden Wolves then begin the MAC Commonwealth playoff next week.
