Reading, Pa. (April 28, 2021) - Alvernia University (3-5, 3-2) defeated Hood College (2-6, 1-4) 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis action at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves took a 2-1 lead coming out of doubles play after the duo of Leah Kemper and Maria Figurelli took an 8-2 win at #2 doubles. Alvernia then picked up a win by default at #3 doubles.

Alvernia then picked up points at #1, #3, #4, #5, and #6 singles for the 7-2 win.

At #1 singles, Leah Bouchard won 7-5, 6-1, and Rachel Rineer did not give up a set at #3 singles after sweeping her match 6-0, 6-0. Lily Summerson also won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at #4 singles. Elizabeth Danovich came from behind at #5 singles to win a three set match 5-7, 6-4, 6-1. Alvernia picked up its final point with a win by default at #6 singles.

With the win, Alvernia moves to fourth place in MAC Commonwealth standings. The Golden Wolves concluded their regular season at Stevenson on Saturday. The Mustangs currently sit in third place.
