Owings Mills, Md. (May 1, 2021) - Alvernia University (4-5, 4-2) came from behind in singles play to defeat Stevenson University (3-6, 3-3) in MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis play at  Stevenson.

Stevenson took all three points available at doubles play to go up 3-0, but Alvernia began to chip away in singles.

Leah Bouchard won her match at #1 singles by a 6-3, 6-0 decision and Laura Covely took #2 singles 6-1, 6-3. Alvernia lost a point at #3 singles, but Lily Summerson took #4 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Elizabeth Danovich took #5 singles 6-1, 6-0. Alvernia sealed the win 7-6 (7-3) and 6-4 for the 5-4 match win.

With the win, Alvernia is the #3 seed going into the MAC Commonwealth playoff. Alvernia will host #6 Hood on Tuesday.
