Women's Soccer Releases 2021 Schedule

2021 Women's Soccer Schedule

Reading, Pa. (July 1, 2021) - Alvernia University Women’s Soccer announced on Thursday its schedule for the upcoming 2021 fall season with its first game set for Wednesday, September 1.

After the traditional 2020 season was cancelled last fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alvernia competed in four exhibition games this past spring. September 1, when Alvernia hosts Montclair State for the season opener, the Golden Wolves will take the field for the first countable game since November 1st, 2019. The Golden Wolves went 3-19 overall in 2019. 2021 will be Alvernia’s first full season under head coach Seamus O'Connor.

Following its home opener on the 1st, Alvernia hits the road for back-to-back road games. The Golden Wolves will head to Cedar Crest on September 3rd and then to FDU-Florham on September 5th. 

The Golden Wolves then head back home to host Rutgers-Camden on September 8th before heading back to New Jersey to take on Rowan on September 13th.

Alvernia continues its non-conference slate with Clarks Summit at home on September 15th and Immaculata on the road on September 18th. Alvernia will then host Goucher on September 21st.

The Golden Wolves head back on the road for two straight away games to close out September. Alvernia will head to Scranton to take on Marywood University on September 25th and will then head to Cabrini on September 30th.

The Golden Wolves open their MAC Commonwealth schedule on October 2nd when they host Widener University.

Alvernia then heads to Eastern University for a first-time MAC Commonwealth matchup with the Eagles on October 6th. Eastern joined the MAC Commonwealth in the Fall of 2019.

The Golden Wolves then host York College in a Friday night game on October 8th. The matchup will also be a first-time MAC Commonwealth contest as the Spartans also joined the conference in the Fall of 2019.

Alvernia then heads on the road for a mid-week matchup against reigning MAC Commonwealth champion Messiah Falcons on October 12th.

Alvernia takes a two game break from its conference schedules with games against Muhlenberg College and Penn State Berks on October 15th and 17th.

The Golden Wolves return to MAC Commonwealth action on October 20th to host Lebanon Valley College. Alvernia then heads on the road for two straight games taking on Stevenson on October 23rd and Albright on October 26th.

Alvernia returns home for its regular season finale with a Saturday afternoon game against Hood College on October 30th.

Senior Kyla Gibson is Alvernia’s leading returning scorer. Gibson netted three goals in 2019. Eden Jahn, Grace Silva, Abbie Houck, Angelica Key, Allysa Hirneisen, Samantha Murray, Lily Sankey, and Jenna Wentling are all senior returners for Alvernia.
