Reading, Pa. (September 11, 2021) - Alvernia University (2-0) scored an early goal to secure a 1-0 win over Arcadia University (1-3) on Saturday evening in non-conference Men's Soccer action at Arcadia.
The Golden Wolves got off to a fast start as
Braden Kreider netted the opening goal in the first 14 seconds of the half off of an assist from
Ryan Cogill. Kreider took the opening kick down field, dribbling past defenders and finding the opposite corner of the net.
Alvernia's defense would apply heavy pressure defensively, only allowing one shot throughout the first half.
The second half would remain scoreless with neither team being able to find the back of the net. It would remain close as time ticked away in the contest. Arcadia would have one final offensive push in the closing minutes, however, Alvernia's defense held strong. The Golden Wolves would secure their second win of the season, 1-0.
Ben Solsky faced nine shots in the contest, racking up three saves.
The Golden Wolves return to action tomorrow at home versus Penn State Berks at 4:00 PM.
